Hunting for resources in *Monster Hunter Wilds* can be a rewarding but sometimes challenging endeavor. Sharp Fangs, a crucial crafting material, are among the trickier items to acquire. This guide will walk you through finding and farming these valuable fangs.
Sharp Fangs appear early in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, primarily within the Windward Plains. These fangs are essential for crafting early-game gear sets like Chatacabra and Talioth armor. To begin your hunt, consider undertaking optional quests like "Beware the Chatacabra" or "The Desert is Demanding." These quests provide access to the Windward Plains and a generous 50-minute time limit. Remember to prepare with a hearty meal before embarking on your quest.
Once in the Windward Plains, head towards Area 8—the largest area, teeming with smaller monsters. While several creatures here might drop Sharp Fangs, one stands out as a reliable source.
Gaijos: Your Primary Target
Gaijos are small, crocodile-like leviathans found near or in riverbeds, usually solitary. Their distinctive snouts make them easy to identify. Utilize the interactive map; purple diamonds near water sources pinpoint their locations. These creatures are relatively weak, making them quick and easy targets, even with early-game weapons. Carving a defeated Gaijo guarantees a single Sharp Fang.
With four to five Gaijos typically spawning in the Windward Plains, and the ability to repeatedly access the area via optional quests, farming Sharp Fangs from Gaijos is highly efficient.
Talioth: An Alternative Source
Talioth, bipedal creatures found in packs within Area 8 (and sometimes Area 13), also have a chance to drop Sharp Fangs, although it’s not guaranteed. While slightly tougher than Gaijos, they pose little threat even with starting equipment. Hunting Talioths also provides an opportunity to complete the "The Desert is Demanding" quest, which requires defeating eight of them.
