Formovie Episode One Hardware Review: Projection Paradise?

Author : Savannah May 22,2025

At Droid Gamers, we're always excited to get our hands on new tech, and the Formovie Episode One projector is a fresh addition to our collection. With its capability to stream mobile games onto a larger screen, this device piqued our interest immediately.

Designed for those on a budget, the Episode One offers a cost-effective solution without breaking the bank. Despite a few minor issues, it successfully delivers on its promise.

Right out of the box, you'll find the projector, a remote (note that batteries are not included), a power cable, and a manual. While it feels substantial, it doesn't quite have the solid weight of higher-end models. However, this lighter build enhances its portability, weighing in at just three pounds, making it an easy companion for on-the-go entertainment.

Some users might find the ports limited, with only one USB-A, one HDMI, and a single audio jack. Yet, for the price, this setup should suffice for most needs.

Performance-wise, the Episode One performs admirably for its price range. It boasts 150 ISO lumens, which isn't the brightest for a laser-based projector. Our tests showed it struggled in direct sunlight but excelled in darker settings, as expected.

For the best image quality, we recommend positioning the projector at least 10 feet away from the screen. The built-in speaker offers a decent sound, though it tends to be a bit tinny. For an enhanced audio experience, consider connecting an external speaker.

The user interface stands out as one of the best in its class. It's straightforward to set up and navigate, and its budget-friendly design actually makes it more user-friendly than some pricier, more complex projectors we've encountered.

In summary, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. While it may not excel in any single aspect, it's a reliable all-rounder that meets the needs of most casual users effectively.
