Google Play Awards 2024: Winners Unveiled

Google just announced its 2024 best apps, games, and books. Some winners were predictable, others less so. Let's explore the Google Play Awards 2024 winners.

Top Performers

The coveted "Best Game" award went to AFK Journey, a fantasy RPG from Farlight and Lilith Games. Its expansive world, stunning visuals, and epic battles featuring a huge cast of characters secured the win. While surprising for an "Away From Keyboard" idle game, the game's exploration and artistic merit clearly impressed Google.

Supercell's Clash of Clans took home the "Best Multi-Device Game" award, thanks to its successful expansion beyond mobile to PCs and Chromebooks. Players can now conquer villages, build armies, and dominate clans across multiple platforms.

Other notable wins include: Supercell's Squad Busters (Best Multiplayer), NetEase Games' Eggy Party (Best Pick Up & Play), and Solo Leveling: Arise (Best Story). The latter was a somewhat unexpected choice, though its popularity is undeniable.

Brave at Night and Noodlecake's Yes, Your Grace earned the "Best Indie" title, a mobile port of the popular 2020 PC RPG. Honkai: Star Rail secured "Best Ongoing" for its consistent updates and rich content. Kids at Play's Tab Time World won "Best for Families," while Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance was the Play Pass winner. Finally, Cookie Run: Tower of Adventures claimed victory in the "Best Google Play Games on PC" category.
