GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 actor Ned Luke assures fans that the wait for GTA 6 will be worthwhile, even predicting blockbuster first-day sales. Read on to discover more about what to expect from GTA 6 and its development.

Rockstar Games: An Unexpected GTA 6?

GTA 5 Actor Predicts $1.3 Billion First-Day Sales for GTA 6

GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day

Ned Luke, the voice of Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts that GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion on its first day of release. In a recent interview with YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke shared his excitement for the upcoming game, emphasizing Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected and the resulting high anticipation.

Luke reassured fans, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He highlighted GTA 5's impressive $800 million first-day haul in 2013, confidently asserting that GTA 6 will significantly surpass those figures. This confidence is supported by DFC Intelligence, a research firm projecting over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in revenue during GTA 6's first year, with a billion dollars stemming from pre-orders alone.

The Return of Familiar Faces? GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6

Luke also offered insight into the possibility of GTA 5 characters appearing in GTA Online and potentially GTA 6. He noted that his character, Michael, has been absent from GTA Online since its launch, unlike Trevor and Franklin.

Luke hinted at Michael's possible return in a speculated final DLC for GTA Online or even a direct appearance in GTA 6. This speculation is fueled by comments from Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5), who suggested in a January 2025 ScreenRant interview that his character could meet his end early in GTA 6, acting as a symbolic "passing of the torch."

Luke remained coy, stating, "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." While both actors express enthusiasm about reprising their roles, no official confirmation regarding their presence in GTA 6 has been made.

GTA 6: In the Testing Phase?

GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day

Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is likely undergoing internal testing. According to GamesRadar, in a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, York highlighted GTA 6's unique unpredictability as an open-world game. He emphasized the unforeseen possibilities arising from player interactions, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."

York believes that GTA 6 is currently undergoing in-house testing, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras." He suggests the game is at least playable at this stage, speculating that numerous internal testers have already experienced it.

Rockstar Games initially unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, and since then, information has been scarce. While a Fall 2025 release was previously reported based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report, no official release date has been announced.
