Speculation Mounts: Will GTA 6 Arrive on PC?
Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently hinted at a potential future PC release for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), fueling fan anticipation. While an official PC launch remains unconfirmed, Zelnick's comments to IGN on February 10, 2025, suggest a staggered release strategy mirroring previous Rockstar titles.
Zelnick noted Rockstar's historical pattern of initially releasing major titles on select consoles before expanding to other platforms. GTA 5's journey from PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and finally PC in 2015, and Red Dead Redemption 2's similar trajectory, serves as precedent. While a simultaneous launch on PC was hoped for by many, the CEO's statements indicate a strong likelihood of eventual PC availability.
Strong PC Sales Projections for GTA 6
Acknowledging the growing significance of the PC gaming market, Zelnick highlighted the substantial contribution of PC sales to overall revenue—up to 40% for multi-platform titles. This underscores Take-Two's confidence in the PC market's continued growth.
Despite declining console sales of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Zelnick expressed unwavering optimism about GTA 6's sales performance across all platforms, emphasizing the game's potential to boost console sales. He anticipates a significant increase in console sales in 2025, driven by the release of several major titles, including GTA 6.
GTA 6 is slated for release in Fall 2025, but concrete release dates remain unannounced. For the latest updates, visit our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.
Expansion to Nintendo Switch 2?
Take-Two's interest in bringing its games to the Nintendo Switch 2 was also revealed during the company's Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025. Zelnick cited a shifting perception of the Nintendo audience and the Switch 2's broader appeal. With Civilization 7 already confirmed for the Switch 2, the possibility of other Take-Two and Rockstar titles appearing on the platform seems increasingly likely.
