In India, the joy of playing cricket often transcends the traditional field, finding its charm in the narrow alleys known as gullies. Capturing this essence, an indie Indian studio, 5th Ocean Studios, has launched their latest cricket game, Gully Gangs: Street Cricket, into Open Beta on Android.
Not Your Typical Cricket Sim
Gully Gangs: Street Cricket breaks the mold with its unique 4v4 multiplayer setup, set right in the heart of Indian gullies. This game marks the debut of the first-ever 4v4 street cricket experience, where players navigate through rooftop catches, dodge scooters, and deal with the inevitable scolding from neighborhood uncles about broken windows. The fun doesn’t stop there; the game also offers a 1v1 mode for those looking for a more personal challenge.
Players can execute power moves, engage in voice chat with their gang, and even resort to some playful banter and tricks during the match. The lively Indian neighborhood settings come alive with ongoing activities around you, featuring broken stumps, makeshift pitches, and unpredictable bounces off uneven walls. Customization is a big part of the game, allowing you to build your gang, deck them out in funky outfits, and unlock various skins.
Gully Gangs: Street Cricket Is Now in Open Beta
Currently, 5th Ocean Studios is rolling out plans for a slew of updates including new street maps, fresh outfits, regular events, clan wars, and even an esports mode. Future enhancements will also include leaderboards, daily and weekly challenges, and dedicated gang vs. gang matchups.
While Gully Gangs: Street Cricket is exclusively available on Android at the moment, the studio is set to expand to iOS and Steam platforms. They're also working on full controller support and cross-platform features. If you're eager to dive into this unique cricket experience, you can download the game from the Google Play Store.
