*Hades II* became available in early access for PC users on May 6, 2024, via Steam and the Epic Games Store. macOS players joined in on the action with an early access launch on October 16, 2024, accompanied by a major content update. The most recent early access update rolled out on February 19, 2025. However, console players will likely have to wait until the game’s official launch to experience it.

Considering Supergiant Games’ approach to refining the game based on player feedback during the extended early access phase, a full release could arrive as early as Q2 2025—spanning April through June. While an April launch seems unlikely due to limited time for analysis post-February update, a May 2025 release appears more plausible. This would also mark a full year since the early access debut, giving the team ample opportunity to incorporate improvements.

Even in its unfinished state, *Hades II* has shown great promise as a worthy successor to its award-winning predecessor. At this point, most players expect the final release to happen sometime in 2025. The only unknowns are the exact timing and the extent of additional polish and development the studio plans to implement before launch. As of now, an official release announcement feels imminent—just a matter of time.

Hades II Release Developer Insight

Development on *Hades II* officially kicked off in early 2021, with much of the original team and voice cast returning to work on the sequel. Since then, the developers have remained largely quiet about specific release timelines, preferring instead to let players engage directly with the evolving game during its early access period.

The last significant promotional push occurred around the technical test and initial early access launch in April and May 2024. Following that, the focus has been squarely on development rather than marketing.

During interviews in May 2024 with outlets like Game Informer, Supergiant Games expressed their vision for *Hades II*: preserving the beloved core gameplay while introducing new characters and mechanics. A key highlight is the inclusion of Melinoë as the new protagonist, bringing fresh energy to the series without straying from what made the original so successful.

Fans worldwide eagerly await the full release of *Hades II*, ready to dive back into the thrilling roguelike dungeon-crawling that defined the first game’s legacy.
