Hearthstone's upcoming Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching January 21st, boasts a record-breaking 49 new cards. This expansive Mini-Set introduces class and multi-class cards themed around StarCraft factions: Zerg (Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, Warlock), Protoss (Druid, Mage, Priest, Rogue), and Terran (Paladin, Shaman, Warrior). The Terran cards utilize the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond expansion.
The Mini-Set's design incorporates faction-specific mechanics. Zerg cards focus on summoning numerous Zerglings and leveraging Hydralisks for swarm-based damage. Protoss cards emphasize temporary and permanent mana manipulation to deploy powerful cards like the Carrier. Terran cards enhance the Starship mechanic with new Starship Pieces and strategies for deploying multiple Starships. A single neutral Legendary card, Grunty, completes the set.
Priced at $20 (or 2500 gold) for a complete set, or $80 (or 12,000 gold) for the all-Golden version, the Mini-Set also offers individual faction packs (Protoss, Terran, Zerg) for $10 (or 1200 gold) each. This represents a slight increase compared to previous Mini-Sets.
To celebrate the launch, Hearthstone is hosting two streamed events:
- StarCast (January 23rd, 10 AM PST): Featuring StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards.
- HearthCraft (January 24th, 9 AM PST): Hearthstone community creators will compete in faction-based matches and mini-games.
