Holiday Cup Little Edition Teams Triumph in Pokemon GO

Author : Savannah Jan 27,2025

The Pokémon GO Holiday Cup: Little Edition is here! This limited-time event, running from December 17th to 24th, 2024, presents a unique challenge with a 500 CP cap and restricted type pool (Electric, Flying, Ghost, Grass, Ice, and Normal). This necessitates strategic team building, departing from typical meta strategies.

Crafting a Winning Team:

The key is finding suitable Pokémon under 500 CP that meet the type restrictions. Evolved forms are often excluded due to higher CP. Smeargle, previously banned, returns and poses a significant threat with moves like Incinerate and Flying Press. Counter-strategies are crucial.

Suggested Team Compositions:

Several team builds offer diverse type coverage and Smeargle countermeasures:

Team 1: Pikachu Libre (Electric/Fighting), Ducklett (Flying/Water), Alolan Marowak (Fire/Ghost). Pikachu Libre's Fighting type is effective against Normal-type Smeargle. Ducklett and Alolan Marowak provide additional type advantages. Skeledirge is a viable Alolan Marowak substitute.

Team 2: Smeargle (Normal), Amaura (Rock/Ice), Ducklett (Flying/Water). This "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" approach utilizes Smeargle's move-copying ability. Ducklett counters Fighting types targeting Smeargle, while Amaura offers Rock-type coverage.

Team 3: Gligar (Flying/Ground), Cottonee (Fairy/Grass), Litwick (Fire/Ghost). This team features less common Pokémon. Litwick's Ghost/Fire typing excels against Ghost, Grass, and Ice types. Cottonee offers strong Grass-type moves, and Gligar provides advantages against Electric types and Fire-type resistance.

Remember, these are suggestions; the optimal team depends on your available Pokémon and play style. Good luck in the Holiday Cup: Little Edition! Pokémon GO is available now.
