Honkai: Star Rail Leak Reveals Free 4-Star Character Selector for Version 3.1

Summary

  • A leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, offering players a choice of four units: Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.
  • This selector is reportedly part of a limited-time event.
  • The recent focus on 5-star character releases in Honkai: Star Rail makes this 4-star selector a welcome addition.

A recent leak reveals exciting news for Honkai: Star Rail players: Version 3.1 will feature a free 4-star character selector, likely tied to a limited-time event. With Honkai: Star Rail's Version 3.0 cycle on the horizon, bringing numerous gameplay updates and new characters, this selector offers a valuable opportunity for players to bolster their rosters.

Currently, Honkai: Star Rail boasts 23 4-star characters. While not all dominate the meta, several prove incredibly useful in diverse team compositions. Newer additions like Moze and Gallagher have quickly gained popularity for their versatility. However, maximizing their potential often requires significant investment in Eidolon levels. Previous updates, such as Versions 2.1 and 2.7, successfully employed free character selectors to help players acquire these crucial Eidolons. This new leak suggests a similar event is returning in Version 3.1, offering a choice of four characters.

Prominent leaker HomDGCat reports that the Version 3.1 selector will allow players to choose between Qingque, Pela, Serval, and Asta. This leak further indicates the selector will be a limited-time event, mirroring previous implementations. Notably, all featured characters debuted during the game's 1.0 cycle, with Asta even being gifted early in the game. Earlier rumors suggested an upcoming focus on 5-star characters, making this leak potentially significant, suggesting fewer 4-star unit releases from Amphoreus in the near future.

Honkai: Star Rail Leak Teases New 4-Star Character Selector in Version 3.1

  • Qingque: Quantum, Erudition
  • Pela: Ice, Nihility
  • Serval: Lightning, Erudition
  • Asta: Fire, Harmony

While Pela and Asta have maintained their utility as support characters, Qingque and Serval have been somewhat overshadowed by newer DPS units. It's also worth noting that all these characters are available for purchase in the in-game store. Since the release of Penacony, many players have observed Honkai: Star Rail's trend towards releasing more 5-star characters than 4-star. The game currently features nearly 40 five-star characters, highlighting the significant disparity between the two rarity tiers. With eight more 5-star characters expected with Amphoreus, and the rumored addition of two more from the Honkai: Star Rail and Fate/Stay Night crossover, this imbalance is likely to continue.

During the 2.0 cycle, only four new 4-star characters were released (including March 7th's alternate form). Whether Amphoreus will maintain this trend remains uncertain. However, if the leak proves accurate, future 4-star character selectors might lack sufficient new units to offer. Despite this, players have much to anticipate in the upcoming patch, with Version 3.0 introducing the highly anticipated The Herta and Aglaea. To assist players in preparing for these additions, Honkai: Star Rail recently provided new redeem codes for free Stellar Jades and materials.
