Author : Zoe May 22,2025

As part of its expansive HP Memorial Day Sale, HP is rolling out some stellar deals on its new Omen Max 16 gaming laptops, powered by the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or RTX 5080 mobile graphics. The Omen Max, HP's flagship gaming laptop for 2025, is a step up from the Omen 16, boasting superior materials like an aluminum-magnesium alloy chassis and lid, along with an enhanced cooling system to support the more robust hardware of the current generation. Both the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 GPUs offer significant performance boosts over the RTX 40 series, with the RTX 5070 Ti matching the RTX 4080 and the RTX 5080 outperforming the RTX 4090.

Originally priced at $2,499.99, you can now snag this powerhouse for just $2,179.99 at HP—a 13% savings. This configuration of the HP Omen Max 16 comes with a 16" display at 1920x1200 resolution, powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX processor, GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics, 16GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The Core Ultra 7 255HX processor can turbo boost up to 5.2GHz, featuring 20 cores and 36MB of L2 cache, making it a top-tier choice for gaming, closely rivaling the performance of the Core Ultra 9 275HX.

According to Notebookcheck, the RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU is considered "the true successor to the RTX 4070", with performance levels akin to the RTX 4080. While the RTX 5070 falls short, matching the RTX 4070, the RTX 5070 Ti should comfortably handle any game at the native 1920x1200 resolution of the display.

Originally listed at $3,299.99, this model is now available for $2,799.99 at HP, offering a 15% discount. The Core Ultra 9 275HX can reach a max turbo frequency of 5.4GHz with 24 cores and 40MB of L2 cache. According to Passmark, it's the fastest laptop processor currently available, outpacing the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D by 7%.

Tom's Hardware reports that the RTX 5080 mobile GPU delivers a 15%-20% performance increase over the RTX 4080 it replaces, and it's also about 5% more powerful than the RTX 4090, the previous generation's flagship. The RTX 5080 stands out as a better value proposition compared to the RTX 5090, being nearly $1,000 less expensive while only lagging by about 15% in performance. This GPU is well-equipped to handle new and upcoming games at high frame rates, even at the display's native 2560x1600 resolution.
