Hyper Light Breaker: How to Get Golden Rations

Hyper Light Breaker boasts a variety of resources, but Golden Rations stand out as the rarest and most crucial for significant upgrades. The game doesn't explicitly explain these resources, leaving players to discover their uses and locations organically. This guide provides a clearer path to acquiring Golden Rations.

Where to Get Golden Rations

Currently, two primary methods exist for obtaining Golden Rations in the early access version: exploration and cycle resets. During your runs, keep an eye out for chest icons on the map. These chests often contain resources for purchases or upgrades, and sometimes, they hold the coveted Golden Rations. A Golden Ration icon above a chest indicates its presence.

Locations marked with Prism icons (golden diamond symbols) frequently have nearby Golden Ration chests.

Alternatively, cycle resets offer another route. A cycle represents a single Overgrowth instance, resetting when your revives (Rez count) reach zero. Upon depletion, you can choose to retry the map (at a resource cost) or completely reset the cycle at the Cursed Outpost. Successful cycle resets grant rewards based on your score, with Golden Rations awarded for sufficient ranking.

What are Golden Rations For?

Golden Rations are essential for progression in Hyper Light Breaker. Primarily, they unlock permanent upgrades at your home base, enhancing your characters or purchasing new services from vendors.

Furthermore, Golden Rations unlock Sycoms—items defining your Breaker's stats and passive abilities, fundamentally shaping their playstyle.

Upon acquiring your first Golden Ration, prioritize the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit. This significantly improves survivability, mitigating the game's harsh penalty for combat errors.

Remember, death doesn't mean total loss; collected resources persist. However, your equipped weapons, amps, and perks suffer damage (one pip), potentially leading to permanent destruction.
