Mastering the Zoomer in Jak and Daxter: Precursor Basin: A Comprehensive Guide

Precursor Basin, following Fire Canyon, presents a seemingly less perilous, yet arguably more challenging, vehicular level in Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. This guide details how to conquer its demanding objectives, essential for trophy hunters.

Herd the Moles: A Simple Start

Begin by herding four moles back to their burrows using the Zoomer. Utilize the Zoomer's hop for sharp turns to effectively chase and guide them. Reward: A Power Cell from the Geologist in Rock Village.

Capture the Flying Lurkers

These elusive creatures require skillful pursuit and ramming. Strategically intercept their turns to efficiently capture them. The final Lurker drops a Power Cell.

Conquer the Gorge Time Trial

Beat the 45-second record on the Gorge race track near Precursor Basin's entrance. Key strategies include:

  • Utilize Lurkers for boosts: Ramming Lurkers launches the Zoomer, enabling higher jumps.
  • Master Blue Eco boosts: Collect Blue Eco for temporary speed enhancements. Navigate carefully around pillars and sharp turns.
  • Avoid Dark Eco Crates: Stick to the middle of the track to avoid these obstacles.
  • Perfect the 180-degree turn: Execute a precise hop and turn to navigate the pit effectively.
  • Optional advanced maneuver: Use a Lurker for a risky but potentially faster boost onto a raised area.

Reward: A Power Cell from the Gambler. A trophy is awarded for sub-40-second times.

Retrieve the Lake Power Cell

This requires precise driving and timing. Follow this route:

  1. Start from the slope used for chasing Lurkers.
  2. Navigate the narrow bridge and gaps between islands using the Zoomer's hop.
  3. Utilize ramps for jumps between islands.
  4. Execute a 180-degree turn halfway up a slope.
  5. Hop across the final islands and bridge to reach the Power Cell.

Heal the Dark Eco Infected Plants

Use Green Eco to charge the Zoomer and drive through the purple plants to cure them. Efficient driving and use of the hop are crucial to complete this before the plants regrow.

Complete the Purple Precursor Ring Challenge

Navigate the appearing rings before time runs out. The most challenging sections involve:

  • The airborne ring: Hop off a natural bridge to reach an aerial ring.
  • The final ring: A similar aerial ring near a hole in the raised track.

Reward: A Power Cell.

Conquer the Blue Precursor Ring Challenge (Advanced)

This significantly more difficult challenge begins near the Lake Power Cell slope. Key challenges include:

  • The pillar loop: Navigate three rings while circling a pillar.
  • The lake jump: Utilize rocks for a high jump to reach an aerial ring.
  • The hill hop: A tricky hop off a hill to reach an airborne ring.
  • The crossroads: Carefully navigate a series of rings after crossing the lake.
  • The final ring: Located on the edge of a slope.

Reward: A Power Cell.

Collect All Seven Scout Flies

Locate and collect all seven Scout Fly Boxes for another Power Cell. Their locations are detailed below with corresponding images:

  • Image 2: Atop the slope.
  • Image 3: Across the narrow bridge.
  • Image 4: On and under the raised area with a hole.
  • Image 5: After hopping across three islands.
