Keanu Reeves offers the most encouraging update yet on Constantine 2, confirming a script is now in the works.
John Constantine, the occult detective and exorcist from DC Comics, was memorably portrayed by Reeves in the 2005 film adaptation, which achieved cult classic status. For two decades, fans have clamored for a sequel, a desire Reeves has openly shared.
Now, Constantine 2 appears closer to reality following Reeves' confirmation of a successful pitch meeting at DC Studios.
"We've been trying to get this film made for over a decade, and we recently finalized a story and pitched it to DC Studios. They said, ‘Okay,’" Reeves revealed to Inverse. "So, we're going to attempt to write a script."

While promising, it's crucial to note that DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran haven't officially greenlit the project. Constantine 2 remains unconfirmed within the rebooted DCU, and neither Gunn nor Safran has publicly acknowledged it. The sequel's future remains uncertain.
However, Reeves hinted that, if produced, Constantine 2 will remain faithful to the original film's universe. "We're staying within the same world," he assured fans, adding with a playful tone: "John Constantine's going to face even more torment."
Reeves' comments follow producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura's September statement, where he admitted to having the Constantine 2 script in his inbox but expressed apprehension about reading it, hoping for a high-quality outcome.
Speaking to ComicBook, di Bonaventura stated, "It's in my inbox right now, funnily enough. I'm too scared to read it, though. I want it to be so good. I'll probably read it in the next few days, when I'm on a plane."
