Konami fuels speculation about a next-gen release of Metal Gear Solid 4, potentially included in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. The possibility of an MGS4 remake or port for PS5, Xbox, and other platforms is addressed.
Konami Hints at MGS4's Next-Gen Future
MGS4 Remake or Port a Possibility in Master Collection Vol. 2?
In a recent interview with IGN, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura acknowledged the intense fan interest in seeing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) on modern consoles. While he didn't confirm any plans, his comments hinted strongly at the possibility of MGS4's inclusion, perhaps as a remake, in Master Collection Vol. 2. He cited the ongoing internal discussions regarding the series' future as the reason for not revealing details.
"We're aware of the MGS4 situation," Okamura stated. "With Vol. 1 covering MGS 1-3... well, you can probably guess! We're focused on the series' future. More to come!"
The PS3 exclusive status of MGS4 has long fueled fan desires for a port or remake. The successful release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 (featuring remastered versions of the first three games on various platforms) further strengthens speculation that MGS4 could follow suit.
Last year, placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official timeline, adding fuel to the rumors. IGN also reported these titles as potential candidates for Master Collection Vol. 2, although Konami hasn't offered official confirmation.
Further fan speculation arose last November when David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project on social media.
Currently, Konami remains tight-lipped about the contents of Master Collection Vol. 2 and any concrete plans for an MGS4 remake or port. However, the evidence suggests a significant possibility.
