LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has unveiled ambitious plans to significantly expand the company's digital footprint, venturing into the world of video game development. This expansion will involve both independently created titles and strategic partnerships.
“We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing.” Niels Christiansen
This strategic shift doesn't signal an end to LEGO's established practice of licensing its brand to external developers. Recent reports, for example, indicate TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed game franchises, is currently developing a new LEGO title, likely based on a Warner Bros. property.

LEGO's most prominent foray into gaming to date is its ongoing collaboration with Epic Games. Last year's hugely successful LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite cemented the partnership's popularity and reach.
The company also boasts a long-standing relationship with TT Games, responsible for a celebrated series of adventure games spanning two decades. While new projects from TT Games have been relatively quiet recently, speculation points towards a new LEGO Harry Potter game, possibly inspired by the phenomenal success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Further demonstrating LEGO's commitment to and versatility within the gaming industry, the company partnered with 2K Games last year to release LEGO 2K Drive, a well-received racing game.
