Though Marvel Rivals is still a relatively new game, the community is buzzing with excitement and speculation about future updates. Recent rumors about a potential PvE boss fight have fueled hopes for a dedicated PvE mode. However, NetEase has clarified that there are no immediate plans for such a mode.
We had the opportunity to speak with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, where we inquired about any plans for a PvE mode. Here's what Wu had to say:
"For now, we don't have any kind of PvE plan, but our development team is continuously experimenting with new gameplay modes. If we find that a new specific game mode is entertaining and fun enough, we would certainly bring it to our audience."
Following Wu's statement, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo chimed in, asking if I would be interested in a PvE mode for *Marvel Rivals*. After I expressed my interest, Wu elaborated:"Yeah, we believe there are some of our audience who would like a PvE mode. But also, you can see that if we come up with a hardcore PvE experience, it will be a totally different and distinctive experience from what we have now. So our development team has been continuously experimenting with different approaches to achieve that goal, perhaps a lighter mode, in a lighter sense, to see what would work best for our game."
While there are no concrete plans for a PvE mode at the moment, Wu's comments suggest that NetEase is exploring ideas for a "lighter" game mode, possibly in the form of a one-off event or similar feature. For now, NetEase remains tight-lipped about further developments.
Marvel Rivals continues to evolve, with regular updates every month and a half introducing new characters. The Human Torch and The Thing are set to join the roster on February 21. We also discussed with Wu and Koo the potential for a Marvel Rivals release on the Nintendo Switch 2, which you can read more about [ttpp]here[ttpp]. Additionally, we addressed concerns about NetEase possibly trolling dataminers with fake hero "leaks" in the game's code.
