Metal Slug: Awakening is a modern reboot of the iconic 90s franchise. Initially teased in 2020 by TiMi Studios as Metal Slug Code: J, the game has undergone some development and name changes, finally launching in Southeast Asia in late 2023. Now, it's ready for a worldwide release.
For those unfamiliar with the series, Metal Slug is a beloved Japanese run-and-gun franchise that debuted in 1996, created by Nazca Corporation and later expanding into a multimedia phenomenon. While previous mobile entries like Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020) existed, Awakening promises a significant upgrade.
This new iteration stays true to the classic shooter mechanics while boasting updated graphics and exciting new features. Reunite with your favorite Metal Slug characters in new missions, conquer the World Adventure mode, team up with friends in 3-player co-op, and test your skills in challenging Roguelike modes.
