Renowned insider and editor of Windows Central, Jez Corden, has officially confirmed reports indicating that Microsoft is currently in the process of developing the Gears of War Collection. Speculation regarding this compilation began circulating recently, with rumors suggesting that its iconic multiplayer mode might not be included. Corden validated these claims, stating that competitive online play will indeed be absent from the collection. Nevertheless, he noted that cooperative gameplay and the primary campaign modes will still be accessible.

According to industry whispers, the highly anticipated announcement for the Gears of War Collection could arrive during the upcoming Xbox Showcase event scheduled for June. Although specifics about which titles will be part of the collection remain unclear, insiders believe it may encompass the first three installments of the series.

In other developments, work on the next major entry in the franchise, titled Gears of War: E-Day, is progressing using Unreal Engine 5 for both PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms. Recent leaks hint at a possible launch later this year; however, Corden expressed skepticism about this timeline, suggesting a more likely release in 2026.
