Marvel's Moon Knight: Future Appearances Confirmed, But No Season 2
While Moon Knight won't be returning for a second season on Disney+, Marvel Studios has confirmed Oscar Isaac's character will reappear in the MCU. Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, clarified this in a recent interview with ComicBook.
The shift away from a Season 2 stems from a change in Marvel Television's strategy. Initially, the studio used series like Moon Knight (released in 2022) to introduce characters before incorporating them into larger MCU projects, similar to Ms. Marvel's introduction before The Marvels. However, the current approach prioritizes self-contained, annual releases, more akin to traditional television series.
Winderbaum stated, "Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future...moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television." He expressed interest in a Season 2 but confirmed alternative plans are in place for Moon Knight's future appearances.
While Isaac voiced Moon Knight in Marvel's What If...?, his live-action return remains unannounced.
The upcoming MCU Disney+ slate includes:
- Daredevil: Born Again (March)
- Ironheart (June)
- Eyes of Wakanda (August)
- Marvel Zombies (October)
- Wonder Man (December)
Recently, Marvel Television reportedly paused production on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. However, Winderbaum hinted at the possibility of a Defenders reunion, bringing together Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist.
