Expand Your Stardew Valley Farm with Multiple Pets!
This guide details how to acquire multiple pets in Stardew Valley, adding more furry (or shelled!) friends to your farm. The 1.6 update made this possible, but it requires some steps.
Unlocking Multiple Pets:
Initially, you can adopt one pet. To unlock the ability to adopt more, you must maximize your existing pet's friendship level. This involves:
- Daily Watering: Fill your pet's water bowl daily (except on rainy/snowy days).
- Daily Petting: Pet your pet once a day (indicated by a heart bubble).
- Check Progress: Monitor your pet's friendship meter in the "Animals" tab of the pause menu.
Once the meter is full, Marnie will contact you about adopting additional pets. If you skipped the initial pet adoption, she'll contact you at the start of Year 2.
Adopting Multiple Pets:
Visit Marnie's shop (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, closed Mondays and Tuesdays) and select the "Adopt Pets" option. You'll find 12 pet licenses:
Pet License | Cost |
---|---|
Brown Cat | 40,000g |
Grey Cat | 40,000g |
Orange Cat | 40,000g |
White Cat | 40,000g |
Black Cat | 40,000g |
Brown Dog w/ Blue Collar | 40,000g |
Brown Dog (Shepherd) | 40,000g |
Brown Dog w/ Red Collar | 40,000g |
Black and White Dog w/ Red Bandana | 40,000g |
Dark Brown Dog | 40,000g |
Green Turtle | 60,000g |
Purple Turtle | 500,000g |
Getting Pet Supplies:
Before or after adopting, commission Pet Bowls from Robin's shop. These cost 5,000g and 25 Hardwood each and act as your pet's home, preventing friendship decay and runaway pets.
Optional decorative items like doghouses and cat trees are available at Marnie's. These don't affect friendship.
With these steps, you can enjoy a bustling, multi-pet farm in Stardew Valley. Check out The Escapist for more Stardew Valley guides!
