Player First Games announced the upcoming end of MultiVersus, the Warner Bros. platform fighter, with Season 5 being its last. The game will conclude on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST.
The studio detailed the discontinuation of support in a blog post on their website. MultiVersus, which launched May 28, 2024, will enter Season 5 on February 4th, concluding its run in May 2025. Online play will end at that time, but players will retain access to all earned and purchased content offline via local and training modes.
The MultiVersus team expressed gratitude to players and supporters, highlighting the dedication poured into the game. They acknowledged and thanked the incredible community support.

Real-money transactions are now unavailable, but Gleamium and character tokens can still be used to access in-game content until May 30th. MultiVersus will also be delisted from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store at that time.
The closure follows reports of MultiVersus underperforming significantly for Warner Bros. Discovery, resulting in a $100 million writedown, contributing to a larger $300 million writedown for the games sector. This follows the launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in January and recent news of Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad's departure.
"We took another $100 million plus impairment due to the underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business, a key factor in this year’s studio profit decline,” stated chief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels during a November financial call.
Despite the shutdown shortly after its one-year anniversary, Season 5 will include new content, featuring Lola Bunny and Aquaman as playable characters. Lola Bunny will be unlockable via a daily calendar reward, while Aquaman will be available through the battle pass, both launching next week.
