If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential Part 3 video game, you might want to brace yourself. Series creator Neil Druckmann has recently thrown cold water on any expectations that a third installment is in the works—or will be anytime soon.
In a comprehensive interview with Variety primarily focused on the *The Last of Us* TV series, Druckmann was asked about the possibility of *The Last of Us Part 3*. His response was quite definitive:
“I was waiting for this question,” he said with a sigh. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”
The question now is whether to take Druckmann at his word. Currently, Naughty Dog is deeply engaged in developing *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December. With no release window in sight, it's clear that the studio's focus is on this new space-themed project, leaving little room for *The Last of Us Part 3* in the near future. Druckmann might be playing his cards close to the chest, or he might genuinely not be ready to commit to another sequel. Only time will tell if his stance on *The Last of Us* will change.
For fans still yearning for more from the *The Last of Us* universe, there's hope in the television series. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about how many seasons it will take to fully adapt the story of *Part 2*, an HBO executive suggested in February that four seasons might be the ideal length to complete the narrative arc.
