Norman Reedus Open to Playing Himself in 'Death Stranding 2' Movie

Author : Stella Jul 08,2025

Exciting news for *Death Stranding* fans — the highly anticipated sequel, *Death Stranding 2: On The Beach*, is scheduled to launch in June 2025. As excitement builds, franchise lead Norman Reedus recently shared some intriguing insights about the upcoming game and hinted at his potential involvement in the film adaptation currently in development.

During an interview with IGN, Reedus was asked whether he’d be open to playing himself in a future movie based on the *Death Stranding* universe — a project that was recently confirmed to be in early development under director Michael Sarnoski and studio A24. His response? “If it was an option, yeah, for sure,” Reedus said enthusiastically. He also noted, however, that details are still very much up in the air: “I don’t know what’s happening with it. It’s so pre pre pre right now. But yeah, of course.”

In the same conversation, Reedus reflected on his experience working with legendary game creator Hideo Kojima, especially in regard to understanding the complex narrative of the original *Death Stranding*. While he admitted the first game left him scratching his head at times, he expressed full confidence in Kojima’s visionary direction. “As far as working with him and understanding where his head’s at, I don’t think anybody can understand where his head’s at,” Reedus mused. “He’s just that guy, he’s out there and he’s got great ideas.”

Reedus also confirmed that the sequel offers more clarity compared to its predecessor: “Story-wise, I did know what was happening more [this time]. There’s more action in it, there’s more of a definite goal to get to.” That’s certainly encouraging news for players hoping for a more straightforward journey while still enjoying the signature surreal flair that defines a Kojima production.

Despite the mind-bending twists and turns that come with being part of the *Death Stranding* universe, Reedus remains fully committed and enthusiastic. “It’s always a trip working on those things,” he told IGN. “It’s great, but it’s wild.”

Mark your calendars — *Death Stranding 2: On The Beach* drops on June 26, 2025, promising a deeper dive into one of gaming’s most enigmatic worlds.
