Author : Ava May 20,2025

Summary

  • The RTX 5090 will boast an impressive 32GB of GDDR7 video memory, doubling that of the RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti.
  • This high-performance GPU will require a significant 575W power draw.
  • Nvidia plans to unveil its RTX 50 series, including the RTX 5090, at CES on January 6, 2025.

Leaked details about the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 suggest that this upcoming graphics card will feature up to 32GB of GDDR7 video memory and a substantial power requirement of 575 watts. Nvidia is set to officially reveal this flagship GPU during their keynote at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Codenamed Blackwell, the RTX 50 series represents Nvidia's next-generation lineup of graphics cards, launching more than two years after the RTX 40 series. This new series will leverage Nvidia's proprietary Tensor Cores for AI-based workloads, alongside advanced features such as Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) upscaling, ray tracing, and support for PCIe 5.0 on compatible motherboards. The RTX 50 series will follow the RTX 40 lineup, which saw models like the RTX 4090D and RTX 4070 discontinued in anticipation of the new Blackwell series. This new generation will compete against AMD's Radeon RX 9000 and Intel's Battlemage GPUs.

While rumors should be taken with caution, some specifics about the RTX 5090 have surfaced before CES. VideoCardz reported that Nvidia's partner, Inno3D, showcased its version of the RTX 5090. The Inno3D iChill X3 RTX 5090 is a three-fan model that spans over three slots in a PC case. The packaging for the iChill X3 RTX 5090 confirms the flagship Blackwell GPU's 32GB of GDDR7 video memory, which is twice the expected memory of the RTX 5070 Ti. Additionally, the RTX 5090's 575W power draw marks a significant increase from the 450W of the RTX 4090.

The Nvidia RTX 5090 Will Have Plenty Of Video Memory But At A Cost

  • Inno3D, a partner of Nvidia, has confirmed that the RTX 5090 will come equipped with 32GB of GDDR7 video memory.
  • This 32GB of video memory is twice what is expected in the RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti.
  • The RTX 5090's power draw of 575W necessitates a high-capacity power supply.
  • Nvidia will officially unveil the RTX 50 lineup at CES on January 6.

The RTX 50 series will utilize a proprietary 16-pin power connector, with adapters available from Nvidia and its partners. Despite its impressive specs, the RTX 5090 is anticipated to carry a high price tag, with an expected MSRP starting at around $1,999 or more. Nvidia has remained tight-lipped about the cost of the Blackwell generation for PC builders.

Alongside the RTX 5090, Nvidia will announce other RTX 50 series GPUs, including the RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti, during their CES keynote on January 6 at 9:30 PM Eastern. As Nvidia's new generation of products approaches, it remains to be seen how consumers will respond.
