Capcom has unveiled exciting new gameplay footage of its highly anticipated 2026 action game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Adding to the anticipation, the game will feature the legendary Japanese swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, as its lead protagonist.
During the PlayStation State of Play, Capcom showcased a new trailer that provided a fresh look at the gameplay of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Although the release is set for 2026, the game promises thrilling sword-based action and encounters with formidable enemies.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword will not only highlight Miyamoto Musashi's unparalleled sword skills but also showcase his roguish and comedic personality. Capcom's press release describes the game as a dark fantasy action title, featuring one of Japan's most renowned historical figures. Interestingly, Musashi's character model is inspired by the late Toshiro Mifune, the iconic Japanese actor who portrayed Musashi in various samurai films.
Set in a Kyoto overrun by an evil force called Malic, which is summoning Hell and its denizens into Japan, Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. To prepare fans for this new installment, Capcom has also announced the release of a remastered version of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, scheduled for May 23, 2025.
