People Can Fly, the acclaimed developer behind Bulletstorm and co-developer of the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, has recently inked a deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment to embark on an exciting new venture known as Project Delta. This collaboration has been confirmed through a detailed report from People Can Fly, which outlines the agreement as a work-for-hire arrangement. While the specifics of Project Delta remain under wraps, the partnership signals a significant step for both companies in the gaming industry.
Currently, People Can Fly is juggling an impressive portfolio of projects, each bearing cryptic codenames. Among these, Project Gemini, developed in collaboration with Square Enix, faced setbacks last year with the layoff of 30 developers. Meanwhile, Project Echo is being crafted with Krafton, and Project Red, which appears to be another partnership with Sony, is also in the pipeline. Just yesterday, the studio announced that Project Bison, their venture into virtual reality, would mark their final foray into VR gaming.
In a series of recent updates, People Can Fly revealed significant changes to their project lineup. Last December, the studio decided to suspend development on Project Victoria and scale down efforts on Project Bifrost. Earlier in April, they announced the cancellation of Project Dagger, an action-adventure game that was set to be developed in partnership with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these adjustments, People Can Fly remains active with a total of eight known projects currently in development. This includes the eagerly awaited Gears of War: E-Day, developed in partnership with The Coalition, for which no release date has been announced yet. On the other hand, Project Gemini, their collaboration with Square Enix, is slated for a 2026 release.
