Following the official reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, speculation has been growing about what this means for the broader gaming ecosystem—and it looks like Microsoft is still fully committed to supporting Nintendo’s upcoming console. Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently reiterated his company's ongoing dedication to the Switch platform, emphasizing its value in connecting with players who may not typically engage with Xbox or PC ecosystems.
In a recent interview with Variety, Spencer was asked whether Microsoft had any specific plans for new projects on the Nintendo Switch 2. His response made one thing clear: just as Xbox has supported the original Switch, it intends to support its successor.
"Nintendo has been a great partner. We think it is a unique way for us to reach players who aren’t PC players, who aren’t players on Xbox," Spencer explained. "It lets us continue to grow our community of people that care about the franchises that we have, and that’s really important for us to make sure we continue to invest in our games."
Spencer also expressed admiration for Nintendo’s role in shaping the industry, stating that continued collaboration benefits both companies. “I’m really a big believer in what Nintendo means for this industry and us continuing to support them,” he added. “And getting the support from them for our franchises, I think, is an important part of our future.”
This isn't the first time Spencer has voiced strong support for Nintendo's next system. Even during the early teasers for the Switch 2, he praised Nintendo’s innovative spirit and confirmed that Xbox would continue expanding the availability of its titles across platforms—including PlayStation, Steam, and Nintendo consoles.
When asked if the Switch 2 reveal had increased pressure for Xbox to share more about its own hardware roadmap, Spencer remained unfazed. He stressed the importance of focusing on building player communities rather than reacting directly to competitors. “I get inspired by what a lot of different creators do and other platform holders,” he said. “But I believe in the plans that we have.”
Microsoft remains committed to delivering high-quality games across multiple platforms, including cloud, PC, and consoles. Titles such as *Pentiment* and Obsidian’s *Grounded* have already found homes on Nintendo systems, and fans are eager to see which Xbox exclusives might make their way to the Switch 2 after its launch.
