You Might Soon Be Able to Play PC Games on Android with the Xiaomi WinPlay Engine!

Xiaomi's new WinPlay Engine: Play Windows games on your Android tablet!

Xiaomi has unveiled its innovative WinPlay Engine, enabling local Windows game play on Android tablets with minimal performance impact. Currently in beta, it's exclusive to the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro.

This impressive technology utilizes a three-layer virtualization system powered by Xiaomi's HyperCore kernel, allowing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-equipped Pad 6S Pro to run Windows games. Xiaomi claims a negligible 2.9% GPU performance loss.

Key Features:

  • Near-Native Performance: Experience minimal performance degradation when playing PC games.
  • Steam Support (Potentially): Access your Steam game library directly (compatibility details pending).
  • Bluetooth Peripheral Support: Use keyboards, mice, and even Xbox controllers with haptic feedback.
  • Local Multiplayer: Enjoy local multiplayer games with up to four players.

Setup: While still in beta, setup requires some manual steps. You'll need to purchase games from platforms like Steam or GOG, transfer the game files to your tablet, and launch them via the AI Treasure Box app. A true plug-and-play experience is not yet available.

Availability: Currently limited to the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro, with no confirmed release date for other devices.

The prospect of playing Windows games with near-native performance on an Android tablet is undeniably exciting. Stay tuned for further updates! Next up, we'll explore Crunchyroll's addition of Tengami, a captivating puzzle game inspired by Japanese folklore.
