World of Warcraft is introducing the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al’ar as exclusive rewards through two promotions in China. Although not yet available in other regions, these mounts are fresh takes on the rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al’ar, originally dropped by raid bosses.
After over a year, NetEase and Blizzard reignited their partnership, bringing games like World of Warcraft, Diablo 4, and Overwatch 2 back to China. To celebrate this return, World of Warcraft has hosted several events, including the creation of a Lightforged Gorehowl statue and the introduction of the Xiao Liu pet with teleportation abilities.
Now, WoW China is gearing up for another exciting promotion, featuring new versions of these coveted mounts. The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and Golden Ashes of Al’ar are reimagined and recolored versions of the Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al’ar, two of the rarest mounts in the game. These fiery birds will be available through twin promotions starting January 15, and can be used in both modern and Classic WoW.
New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotion Mounts
- Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
- Golden Ashes of Al'ar
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, reminiscent of the Pureblood Fire Hawk from WoW: Cataclysm’s Firelands raid, showcases xiangyun or “auspicious clouds” within its wings while flying. These clouds symbolize peace, immortality, and good fortune, deeply rooted in Chinese culture for over 3000 years. The Golden Ashes of Al’ar, a gilded version of the Ashes of Al’ar dropped by Kael’thas Sunstrider in The Burning Crusade’s The Eye raid, features a stylish black saddle and flavor text that echoes Kael’thas’s iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk can be obtained through an event called the Treasure Workshop, though details about this event remain limited. Conversely, the Golden Ashes of Al’ar is available from Landro’s Loot Box, priced at ¥200 (about $27). Each box offers one of eight items, including other high-value rewards like the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the Swift Spectral Tiger, a rare mount from World of Warcraft’s discontinued TCG. Players can form teams to purchase these loot boxes and earn additional crates by reaching specific spending thresholds.
While there’s no current indication that the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk or Golden Ashes of Al’ar will be released internationally, it’s not entirely out of the question. Until then, players outside of China can only marvel at these stunning mounts from a distance.
