Riot Games made a significant appearance at this year's DICE Summit, where co-founder Marc Merrill shared exciting insights into the company's future plans during a conversation with Stephen Totilo. One of the most anticipated announcements was Merrill's vision for a new massively multiplayer online (MMO) game set within the expansive universe of League of Legends and its acclaimed spin-off series, Arcane.
Merrill expressed that the development of this MMO consumes much of his time, fueled by his deep passion for the genre. He believes this dedication, coupled with the fervent desire of League of Legends fans to explore and immerse themselves in their beloved universe, sets the stage for the game's potential success. Despite the enthusiasm, Merrill remained tight-lipped about specific details such as a release date, humorously mentioning only that he hopes the MMO will be available before the first human sets foot on Mars—a light-hearted comment that leaves fans eagerly awaiting further updates.
In addition to the MMO, Riot Games is also developing another title within the League of Legends universe: 2XKO, a much-anticipated fighting game. Unlike the MMO, 2XKO has already been showcased through trailers and is slated for release before the end of the year, much to the excitement of fans who have been eagerly anticipating this project for years.
