Romeo Is A Dead Man Hasn't Got a Firm Release Window Because 'Every Publisher Wants to Make Sure to Steer Clear Of That One Game’s Release Date'

It's been a while since we last heard from Goichi "Suda51" Suda’s Grasshopper Manufacture, but both he and the studio returned with full force during last night’s State of Play, unveiling a thrilling trailer for the upcoming ultra-violent sci-fi adventure, Romeo Is a Dead Man.

The violence is so intense that GhM calls it the "main feature of this game," letting you switch between an extensive arsenal of weapons to "unleash wave after wave of splattering blood and experience unmatched levels of violence and hyper-stimulating action."

Play"At this point, our development team is pushing hard to finish this title. Back in the day, this was when staff would start bringing sleeping bags to sleep overnight in the studio—but now we make sure everyone gets proper rest and time to recharge," Suda51 explained.

"I’ll never forget the madness of pulling all-nighters during our salad days, getting warning emails for working too much (seriously, that happened). The final stretch of game dev feels just like the world of Beautiful Dreamer—like the night before a huge school festival. Man, it’s been years—I really want to watch Beautiful Dreamer again. What, you don’t know that movie...? I guess a lot of you are just too young to remember it... It’s probably streaming somewhere, so give it a look sometime."

Romeo Is a Dead Man is an ultra-violent science fiction action game from the creative minds at Suda51’s Grasshopper Manufacture. Romeo Stargazer—one of the best protagonist names I’ve ever seen—is an FBI Space-Time special agent hunting down the universe’s most wanted fugitives. It’s set to launch on PC via Steam and Microsoft, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S, but won’t arrive until 2026. So why such a vague release window?

"That’s kind of obvious, isn’t it?" Suda51 said, hinting at what can only be a nod to GTA 6. "That One Game announced its release date, right? Every publisher wants to avoid clashing with That One Game. But what if we flexed and dropped it on the same day...? Nah, just thinking about it is way too scary. Alright then, see you later."

Sony kicked off the summer reveal season with a bang, unveiling a wide array of new games to build excitement ahead of Summer Games Fest Week. Here's everything announced at PlayStation State of Play 2025 last night, including 007 First Light, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, and Silent Hill f's release date.
