Memorial Day Alienware 18 Area-51 Deals
The Alienware 18 Area-51 is designed more as a mobile desktop replacement than a daily carry laptop. Weighing nearly 10 pounds and measuring 0.95 inches at its thinnest point, it's a powerhouse that requires a 360W power brick and should be kept plugged in during use. The larger form factor offers several benefits, including an expansive 18-inch display, a full-sized keyboard with a discrete numpad, and a robust, quiet cooling system. It also features an RJ45 ethernet port for wired connectivity.
Two models are currently discounted for Memorial Day. The $3,150 model comes equipped with RTX 5080 mobile graphics and 32GB of memory, while the $3,750 model is upgraded with RTX 5090 mobile graphics and 64GB of memory.

Memorial Day Alienware 16 Area-51 Deals
The Alienware 16, while slightly less imposing, remains a premium gaming laptop focused on high performance and cooling. It weighs 7.5 pounds and is 0.85 inches thick at its thinnest point. Like its larger sibling, it comes with a 360W power brick and is best used plugged in. Due to its smaller size, it features a 16-inch display and a standard laptop keyboard without a numpad, and lacks an ethernet port. However, it can still be equipped with top-tier internals like the Intel Core Ultra 9 HX processor and up to an Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU, thanks to its efficient cooling system.
Four models are on sale for Memorial Day. The $2,850 model features RTX 5070 Ti mobile graphics. The $2,999.99 and $3,150 models come with RTX 5080, while the $3,650 model is powered by an RTX 5090.

This CPU / GPU Combo Excels in Any Game
The Alienware Area-51 laptops are equipped with the powerful Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, which features a max turbo frequency of 5.4GHz, 24 cores, and a 40MB L2 cache. According to Passmark, this processor is among the fastest mobile CPUs available, competing directly with the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D.
Notebookcheck reports that the RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU is a significant upgrade over the RTX 4070, with performance comparable to the RTX 4080. The RTX 5070, however, performs similarly to the RTX 4070, making it suitable for gaming at the native 1920x1200 resolution.
Tom's Hardware indicates that the RTX 5080 mobile GPU is 15%-20% more powerful than the RTX 4080 it replaces and even outperforms the RTX 4090 by about 5%. The RTX 5080 offers excellent value, being nearly $1,000 less expensive than the RTX 5090 while only lagging behind by about 15%. With the Alienware Area-51's QHD+ (2560x1600) display, this GPU can handle new and upcoming games at high frame rates, especially with DLSS 4 support.
The Area-51: New Style, More Power, Better Cooling
The 2025 Alienware Area-51 gaming laptop features a magnesium alloy chassis with enhanced cooling capabilities to manage the latest high-performance components. This includes additional fans, larger cutouts for improved airflow, increased use of copper, and a new thermal interface material for better heat dissipation. Dell claims the laptop can handle a higher power ceiling of up to 240W TDP without increasing noise levels.
The design of the Area-51 emphasizes smooth contours with rounded edges and soft corners, moving away from the typical squared-off look. The hinges are mostly hidden for a sleek appearance. As expected from Alienware, there are extensive RGB LED lighting customization options. The laptop offers connectivity through three USB Type-A 3.2 15Gbps ports (one with PowerShare), two Thunderbolt / USB Type-C ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a card reader. The 16-inch model weighs 7.5 pounds, while the 18-inch model weighs 9.6 pounds.
