The Silent Hill Transmission on March 13, 2025, unveiled exciting details about Silent Hill f, including a captivating new trailer. Unlike previous games set in a fictional American town, Silent Hill f takes players to Ebisugaoka, a fictional Japanese town inspired by Kanayama, Gero, in Gifu Prefecture.

The game's narrative follows Shimizu Hinako, a seemingly ordinary teenager whose world is upended when her town is enveloped in fog and transformed into a nightmarish landscape. Hinako must navigate this unrecognizable town, solve puzzles, confront bizarre enemies, and make a pivotal choice to survive. The story promises a journey through "a beautiful yet terrifying choice."

The developers have meticulously recreated Ebisugaoka, paying homage to its labyrinthine alleyways using reference pictures, everyday sounds, and historical materials to authentically capture the 1960s setting.

Motoi Okamoto, the Silent Hill series producer, emphasized that Silent Hill f aims to "find the beauty in terror." While preserving the psychological horror core of the series, the game explores this theme through a Japanese lens. Okamoto explained, "Japanese horror often intertwines terror with beauty, where extreme perfection can evoke deep unease. Players will experience this through Hinako, who faces a beautiful yet terrifying decision."

Okamoto assured that Silent Hill f stands alone as an independent story, welcoming both new players and long-time fans. The game includes subtle easter eggs for series veterans, while fans of the game's writer, Ryukishi07, known for his psychological horror visual novels, will find the narrative particularly engaging.

Ryukishi07, a dedicated fan of the franchise, sees Silent Hill f as both a homage to the series' roots and a fresh challenge. One of the significant challenges was crafting a Silent Hill experience outside the iconic town. He confidently stated, "From a creator’s standpoint, I believe we’ve made a true Silent Hill game. We're eager to hear feedback from long-time fans to see if they agree."
