Tonight's Gamescom Opening Night Live featured a fresh look at Silent Hill f, including a new trailer and our first introduction to English voice actor Suzie Yeung as the protagonist, Hinako.
The trailer begins with Hinako awakening disoriented in a pitch-black room. Venturing further, she finds herself in what appears to be a shrine. She follows a figure carrying a blue lantern deeper inside, only to be assaulted by the disturbing dolls from previous trailers. The preview offers glimpses of several other eerie chambers within the shrine.
The scene then shifts to a rainy day at an old house, which Hinako seems to remember as her home. We see her with tattered, blood-stained clothes as a chilling woman's voice commands her to kill everyone. This leads to a confrontation with one of her classmates. While not as graphic as the last trailer, the atmosphere remains deeply unsettling.
Set in 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f features an original story by Ryukishi07 that juxtaposes beauty with horror. Initially announced in 2022, the game is a standalone entry in the series and is Japan's first M-rated Silent Hill title, accompanied by significant content warnings. Recent information suggests a strong focus on combat. Series producer Motoi Okamoto noted, "With challenging action games becoming more popular with younger audiences, we felt incorporating these elements would help the game resonate with newcomers to the franchise."
Silent Hill f is set for release soon, on September 25 of this year, for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. We recently had a five-hour hands-on session; you can read our full preview here.
