Death Stranding 2 Details Unveiled at SXSW 2025

10-Minute Pre-Order Trailer Highlights New Characters and Gameplay

Kojima Productions, in collaboration with Sony, announced the release date for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (DS2) during the South by Southwest (SXSW) event on March 9, 2025, in Austin, Texas. DS2 Director Hideo Kojima kicked off the panel with an engaging 10-minute trailer, offering glimpses into new story elements and gameplay. The trailer reaffirms DS2's focus on human connectivity within a post-apocalyptic setting.

Joining Kojima on the panel were PlayStation’s Global Content Communications Manager Kristen Zitan, and DS2 actors Norman Reedus, reprising his role as Sam Porter Bridges, Troy Baker, and French Music Director and Designer Woodkid. A new character, Neil, played by Luca Marinelli, was introduced, leading a mysterious faction. Fans were quick to spot Neil's resemblance to Metal Gear's Solid Snake, particularly noting the iconic headband.

This similarity was acknowledged by Kojima himself in a July 2020 Instagram post, where he remarked on how Marinelli, when wearing a bandana, strikingly resembles Solid Snake. The new faction led by Neil is poised to play a significant role in Death Stranding 2.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is scheduled for release on June 26, 2025, exclusively on PlayStation 5. For the latest updates and more information about the game, be sure to check out our detailed article on Death Stranding 2: On The Beach!
