Sony Unveils Sleek Midnight Black PlayStation 5 Accessory Collection

Sony has unveiled a stylish new Midnight Black Collection for PlayStation 5, adding a touch of dark elegance to its gaming peripherals. The collection includes four premium accessories: the DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation Portal handheld remote player, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds.

This isn't Sony's first foray into darker aesthetics; the original Midnight Black DualSense controller was a popular release. However, the new collection brings a modern update, especially with the inclusion of the DualSense Edge, complete with its own black carrying case.

Pricing for the collection is as follows:

  • DualSense Edge wireless controller (Midnight Black): $199.99
  • PlayStation Portal (Midnight Black): $199.99
  • Pulse Explore wireless earbuds (Midnight Black): $199.99
  • Pulse Elite wireless headset (Midnight Black): $149.99

Note that the Pulse Elite headset's price is notably higher than its predecessor, the Pulse 3D wireless headset. Both the headset and earbuds come in a felt gray case.

Pre-orders for the Midnight Black Collection begin January 16th, 2025, at 10 AM ET, exclusively through direct.playstation.com. The full launch is scheduled for February 20th, 2025.

Beyond this collection, Sony continues to expand its DualSense controller lineup with themed designs, such as the recently released Helldivers 2 limited-edition controller.

$199 at Amazon, $200 at Best Buy, $200 at GameStop, $199 at Walmart, $200 at Target
