Squad Busters’ latest Hero update is now live! Heroes are the central focus of this release, with squaddies providing essential support. Master your power moves, upgrade your squad members, and enjoy faster-paced action.
Squad Busters has experienced fluctuations in popularity. Although it remains a fun and accessible MOBA-style game at its core, it hasn't fully achieved the success Supercell originally envisioned. However, skeptical players may be enticed to give Squad Busters another try thanks to their latest update.
Described as the most ambitious overhaul of any title in Supercell’s catalog over the past 15 years, this new update fundamentally alters gameplay mechanics. Your squad is no longer made up solely of standard units; instead, it now consists of powerful Heroes and supporting Squaddies.
As expected, Heroes act as your team's core, featuring unique abilities and passive traits. Meanwhile, Squaddies operate similarly to the original units and can be upgraded during matches. You also no longer need to stop moving to attack, though doing so will temporarily increase your squaddies' attack speed.
I Need a Hero
This change significantly impacts the core of Squad Busters, making squads more resilient and shifting the focus from a pseudo-RTS MOBA to a classic MOBA experience. The gameplay now revolves around utilizing your Heroes' 'power moves' alongside your squaddies for support.
While some players may miss how these changes diverge from the original design philosophy of Squad Busters, it is difficult to dispute their effectiveness. Although I initially enjoyed Squad Busters, I didn't find myself playing frequently; shifting the focus to heroes makes player decisions more impactful and meaningful.
