Nintendo has announced that the Switch 2 has become the company's "fastest-selling" hardware ever globally, with over 3.5 million units sold in its first four days.
Nintendo shared the news on Twitter/X, stating, "#NintendoSwitch2 has sold over 3.5 million units worldwide in its first four days, marking the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware in the company’s history."

This record-breaking milestone was made possible in large part by the strong initial stock of Switch 2, a factor that wasn’t always guaranteed for Nintendo hardware or its competitors in the past. It also aligns with comments from Nintendo of America’s CEO Doug Bowser, who confirmed that Nintendo will have sufficient Switch 2 units to meet demand in the U.S., where consumer interest has been high.
For context, the original Nintendo Switch sold 2.74 million units in under a month.
This announcement follows reports from The Game Business that Switch 2 has now become the fastest-selling Nintendo console in UK history, overtaking the previous record held by the Nintendo 3DS.
In our ongoing Nintendo Switch review, we noted, "So far, this sequel system lives up to expectations: a thoughtful evolution of an already outstanding console that updates outdated features, refines countless design details in subtle but meaningful ways, and introduces a promising new control option—though it doesn’t quite perform as smoothly as hoped."
