World of Tanks Blitz is pulling off a massive marketing stunt: a cross-country road trip with a real, decommissioned tank! This eye-catching journey, featuring a tank decked out in vibrant graffiti, celebrates the recent collaboration with Deadmau5. The tank, street-legal and safe, made its debut in Los Angeles during The Game Awards. Fans who spotted and photographed the tank while it traversed the US had the chance to win exclusive merchandise.
The Deadmau5 and World of Tanks Blitz collaboration is now live, offering players the chance to acquire the exclusive Mau5tank—a dazzling tank complete with lights, speakers, and music. Themed quests, camos, and cosmetics are also available.
The whole campaign has a touch of playful irony, embracing the game's gamified nature. While some serious military simulation enthusiasts might scoff, it's undeniably a fun and harmless marketing ploy. Wargaming isn't the first to use this kind of unconventional approach (breweries, for example, have done similar stunts), but seeing a graffitied tank rumbling through a neighborhood certainly adds a unique flair.
