The legendary Star Wars bounty hunter Boba Fett hasn't been seen since February 2022 when his Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett concluded. While the show polarized fans for humanizing the once-mysterious villain, many wonder if this marked the end of his story.
A Silent Future for the Iconic Bounty Hunter
With no official word from Lucasfilm about The Book of Boba Fett Season 2, fans speculate that Temuera Morrison's next appearance as the character may only occur in 2026's The Mandalorian & Grogu movie or potential future seasons of The Mandalorian. Morrison himself recently expressed frustration about Boba Fett being sidelined.
Morrison's Candid Comments
Promoting his new film Ka Whawhai Tonu, the 64-year-old actor questioned Disney's plans: "Where's The Book of Boba Fett Season 2? Where the hell is Season 2?" Morrison revealed he pitched Lucasfilm about appearing in Ahsoka Season 2, leveraging his ability to play any clone character.
The actor recounted meeting Star Wars creative leads Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau: "They didn't want to say too much... There was a few whispers." Morrison whimsically compared his situation to being "preserved for a later date" like "that preservative jar of peaches up on grandma's shelf."
The Shadow of The Book of Boba Fett's Reception
During a 2024 Fan Expo Chicago panel, Morrison acknowledged the show's lukewarm reception might have stalled Boba Fett's return. Though Disney hasn't officially confirmed anything, Morrison stated he hasn't been asked to appear in upcoming Star Wars projects.
Featuring Boba Fett's Sarlacc escape and essentially serving as The Mandalorian Season 2.5, the series ranked among Star Wars' least popular Disney+ entries. Morrison noted: "This show's reception does seem to have impacted the future of the character."
From Jango to Boba and Beyond
Morrison originated the role as Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones before inheriting Boba Fett's armor decades later. Despite Disney's silence, the actor remains passionate about reprising the role, humorously requesting "a chunk of The Mandalorian's time" in return.
While Lucasfilm traditionally keeps secrets (as seen with Mark Hamill's surprise Mandalorian appearance), Morrison's recent comments suggest Boba Fett's return isn't currently in development. Star Wars fans must wait patiently to see if their favorite bounty hunter emerges from carbonite suspension.
