Netmarble's upcoming mobile RPG, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, gets a gameplay trailer and closed beta announcement. Set during the show's fourth season, this action-adventure title promises engaging combat and a rich narrative.
The closed beta, running January 16-22, 2025, in the US, Canada, and parts of Europe (registration via the official website), offers early access to class-based gameplay with "fully manual" controls. Players can command iconic characters like Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, and even Drogon. The game features an original storyline centered around a new character, the heir to House Tyrell in the North.
Initially announced in November 2024 and further showcased at The Game Awards, Kingsroad aims for "raw, aggressive, and destructive" combat. Netmarble, known for Marvel Future Fight and Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, leverages the rich lore and characters from George R.R. Martin's creation and the HBO adaptation to craft a compelling mobile experience. The over-one-minute trailer highlights the class system, character customization, and the game's overall visual appeal.
While fans eagerly await The Winds of Winter, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad provides a significant interim offering, bridging the gap until the next book and other projects like A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon season 3. The full launch is slated for later this year.
