Unlocking High Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds: A Comprehensive Guide
Are you ready to ascend to High Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds? This guide will walk you through the process. For veteran hunters, High Rank is the core experience, the prelude to the anticipated Master Rank (hopefully coming in future DLC).
How to Unlock High Rank
To unlock High Rank, you must complete the main storyline. Spoiler alert: The game's main story culminates in a confrontation within the Dragontorch. Defeating the monster there triggers several cutscenes, after which the game automatically transitions to High Rank.
What is High Rank?
High Rank is where the true Monster Hunter experience begins for many players. Expect significantly tougher challenges: monsters boast increased health and damage output, and are more easily enraged. This difficulty increase is complemented by new weapon tiers and a whole new class of armor to craft. High Rank is often considered the "real game" by long-time fans, offering a substantial grind.
High Rank also introduces dynamic environmental changes. Each region cycles through two distinct states (previously only one was available during the main story). For example, you might hunt in a dust storm-swept plain. A day/night cycle is also implemented, adding further variety. Prepare for a host of new monsters and variations of existing ones.
