How to Unlock High Rank
To unlock High Rank, you must complete the main storyline. Spoiler alert: The game's main story culminates in a confrontation within the Dragontorch. Defeating the monster there triggers several cutscenes, after which the game automatically transitions to High Rank.
What is High Rank?
High Rank is where the true Monster Hunter experience begins for many players. Expect significantly tougher challenges: monsters boast increased health and damage output, and are more easily enraged. This difficulty increase is complemented by new weapon tiers and a whole new class of armor to craft. High Rank is often considered the "real game" by long-time fans, offering a substantial grind.
