Role-playing games (RPGs) have been a cornerstone of the gaming industry for over three decades. The genre consistently delivers a steady stream of notable releases each month, ranging from major titles like Starfield, Lies of P, Hogwarts Legacy, Octopath Traveler 2, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty to more specialized offerings such as Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society, 8-Bit Adventures 2, and Little Witch Nobeta. The pipeline of new RPGs remains consistently full.
The ambitious scope of many AAA RPG projects often leads to announcements years ahead of release, generating significant anticipation. This pre-release hype can be difficult to manage, sometimes resulting in unmet expectations. However, when a game successfully lives up to the hype, the result is truly exceptional.
