World of Warcraft Launches 2025 Six-Month Subscription

Summary

  • New 6-month WoW subscription rewards include the Timbered Sky Snake mount and Timbered Air Snakelet pet.
  • Subscribers receive the rewards by January 31, 2025, and must redeem before 2026.
  • 12-month subscribers get additional mounts and pets.

World of Warcraft has unveiled exciting new in-game items for fans who purchase at least six months of subscription time: the Timbered Sky Snake for modern WoW and the Timbered Air Snakelet pet for Classic. These rewards, inspired by the 2025 Zodiac Sign, will be granted to players who subscribe in bulk or are already on a recurring subscription by January 31, 2025.

Since 2018, World of Warcraft has been rewarding players with exclusive in-game incentives for subscribing for six or more months. These rewards typically refresh in January and July, often themed around the lunar Zodiac signs. For example, the Auspicious Arborwyrm was offered for 2024, the Year of the Wood Dragon.

The first six-month subscription offer for 2025 introduces the Timbered Sky Snake, a flying mount for retail WoW that embodies the Year of the Wood Snake. Alongside it, the Timbered Air Snakelet serves as a matching pet for Cataclysm Classic. Players can acquire these items by purchasing a six-month World of Warcraft subscription, but they are also available for individual purchase in the in-game store at $25 for the mount and $10 for the pet. The Timbered Sky Snakelet, the corresponding pet for modern WoW, can be bought from the Battle.net shop for $10, though it is not part of the subscription offer.

January 2025 Six-Month WoW Subscription Offer

  • Timbered Sky Snake skyriding mount for World of Warcraft: The War Within
  • Timbered Air Snakelet, a small version of the mount, as a pet for Cataclysm Classic

Players currently on recurring subscriptions will also receive these rewards. Both items will be credited to eligible Battle.net accounts no later than January 31, 2025, and must be redeemed by the same date in 2026, when they will likely be succeeded by items themed around the Year of the Fire Horse.

Those opting for a 12-month subscription will also receive the Startouched Furline, Gigantic Grrloc, and Charming Courier mounts for modern WoW, along with the Lava Drake mount and Swoopy pet for Classic. Additionally, subscribers will automatically qualify for the July six-month subscription offer, making this an excellent opportunity for mount collectors.

Looking ahead, World of Warcraft’s 2025 roadmap outlines significant updates for both retail and Classic versions. Retail WoW will see major patches starting with 11.1 and may introduce player housing by year's end. Classic will advance to Mists of Pandaria, with new anniversary realms progressing from vanilla to The Burning Crusade, and Season of Discovery entering its final phase. With such substantial updates on the horizon, securing a bulk subscription now is highly beneficial.
