Kicking things off in August 2024 is a prologue quest, "The Lotus Eaters," reuniting players with a beloved character and setting the stage for the main event. This prologue, following "Whispers in the Walls," introduces the world of 1999 and the new Warframe, Sevatgoth Prime, and its exclusive weapons. Completing "The Lotus Eaters" is essential to access Warframe: 1999, slated for Winter 2024.
Warframe: 1999 plunges players into an alternate 1999, where a deadly Y2K virus threatens global devastation. The setting? Höllvania, a vibrant 90s city corrupted by Techrot. Navigate this neon-drenched landscape using the new Atomicyles – high-tech vehicles capable of bullet jumps, drifts, and even explosive maneuvers. Commanding these futuristic rides are the Hex, a team of six heroes, each sporting a Protoframe – a Warframe design showcasing the human beneath.
The Hex boasts an all-star cast, including Alpha Takahashi, Ben Starr, Melissa Medina, and Amelia Tyler. Interact with them via in-game instant messaging for a truly authentic 90s experience!
Prepare for a showdown with On-lyne, a 90s boy band turned Technocyte-infected foes, led by the charismatic Zeke (voiced by Nick Apostolides). Their infectious music will be available on major streaming platforms. Their hit single, "Party of Your Lifetime," is already a must-listen!
Fashion is key, and Warframe: 1999 delivers major upgrades to the fashion system. Players can equip two fashion frame loadouts, seamlessly switching between them. The introduction of Gemini Skins allows players to bring Protoframes like Arthur and Aoi into the Origin System, complete with fully voiced lines.
Beyond the core update, Digital Extremes is partnering with THE LINE to produce an anime short based on Warframe: 1999. Furthermore, high-fidelity Heirloom skins for Ember (available now) and Rhino (early 2025) are on the way.
