Wipe Mods Safely: Preserve Game Progress

Author : Chloe Mar 14,2025

Enhancing your *Ready or Not* experience with mods is tempting, but they can sometimes cause instability and prevent multiplayer sessions with un-modded friends. Here's how to completely remove all mods from your game.

Removing Mods in Ready or Not

Regardless of how you installed them (Nexus Mod Manager, mod.io, or manually), removing mods is straightforward:

  1. Unsubscribe: Launch *Ready or Not*, access the in-game Mod Menu, and unsubscribe from all active mods. This prevents re-downloads after deletion.
  2. Close and Locate Game Files: Close *Ready or Not*. Open Steam, right-click *Ready or Not* in your Library, select Properties, then Installed Files, and finally Browse. This opens the game's directory.
  3. Delete Mod Files (Game Directory): Navigate to *Ready Or Not* > Content > Paks and delete *everything* within the Paks folder. Then, delete the Paks folder itself.
  4. Delete Local Mod Files: Press Windows+R, type %localappdata%, locate the *Ready Or Not* folder, and delete the Paks folder inside (*Ready Or Not* > Saved > Paks).
  5. Verify Game Files: Right-click *Ready or Not* in Steam, go to Properties > Installed Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files. This ensures a clean installation.

Optional: For a completely fresh start (recommended if you're not planning to use mods again), consider reinstalling the game.

While mods add exciting content, they can introduce errors, bugs, and glitches. A clean mod removal often resolves these issues. Furthermore, mods prevent playing with friends who don't have the same mods installed. Deleting them allows for seamless multiplayer with un-modded players.

*Ready or Not* is available now for PC.
