Yakuza: Like a Dragon Direct Date Revealed!

Get ready, Yakuza fans! A Like a Dragon Direct is set for later this week, offering a closer look at Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii before its February release. Unlike recent mainline entries, this title revives the fluid, real-time combat system reminiscent of the original Kiryu saga, starring Goro Majima in a Hawaiian adventure following the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

RGG Studio, the developer behind the Like a Dragon series, made a splash at the 2024 Game Awards with reveals of Virtua Fighter 6 and a new IP, codenamed Project Century. While their work on Virtua Fighter 6 surprised many, Project Century, a 1915 Japan-set action brawler, has generated significant buzz, sparking speculation about its connection to the Yakuza/Like a Dragon universe.

The upcoming Like a Dragon Direct, focusing on Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, streams on Thursday, January 9th at 12 PM EST on YouTube and Twitch. RGG promises new gameplay features without major story spoilers.

Like a Dragon Direct Details:

  • Date: January 9th
  • Time: 12 PM EST
  • Platforms: YouTube, Twitch

While much of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii's combat and minigames have already been showcased, the Direct promises additional reveals. Although RGG only explicitly mentioned Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, speculation abounds regarding potential teases of other projects, such as a rumored Yakuza 3 Kiwami remake or further glimpses of Project Century (though the latter seems less likely given the event's title).

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii sets sail on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC February 21st, promising a unique experience amidst a crowded February release lineup including titles like Monster Hunter Wilds, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Avowed. The mystery of what RGG Studio will unveil remains, but the wait is almost over.
