Nintendo has officially announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will indeed support cloud saves, much to the relief of fans. Earlier reports from IGN had sparked concerns among the community when a disclaimer suggested that certain games, including this highly anticipated title, might not include Nintendo's cloud save feature. The initial disclaimer on Nintendo's website for the Switch 2 edition of Tears of the Kingdom stated: "Please note: this software does not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature."
However, Nintendo has since updated its website with more clarity. While the page for Donkey Kong Bananza has removed any mention of cloud saves, the updated disclaimer for Tears of the Kingdom now reads: "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch." This clarification implies that players will be able to transfer their saves from the original Switch to the Switch 2, but not vice versa, as noted by Eurogamer.
Similarly, the page for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition has been updated with the same message, indicating a consistent approach to save data transfers across these titles.
In other news, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have commenced, maintaining a price point of $449.99. The response to these pre-orders has been as enthusiastic as anticipated. For more details, you can refer to IGN's comprehensive Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
