NHN Corp's latest Android release, Darkest Days, is an atmospheric open-world zombie survival experience that stands apart from their previous titles. This gritty shooter RPG pulls you into a world in ruins.
Darkest Days Uses the Same Old Formula
The game unfolds in a shattered world following a devastating zombie virus outbreak. You play as one of the few vulnerable survivors thrust into this nightmare, struggling to uncover the truth behind the catastrophe.
Your journey begins in Sand Creek, a location defined by its desolate streets, pervasive decay, and the constant feeling of being watched.
Despite the desolation, the game world is expansive. You'll traverse dusty desert villages, frozen islands, and abandoned resort towns, gradually uncovering the origins of the deadly virus as you explore.
Vehicles play a key role in your survival. You can find and commandeer everything from standard family cars to specialized emergency vehicles like ambulances and police cruisers.
Once behind the wheel, you can plow through hordes of the undead. These vehicles can also be upgraded for greater durability, ensuring they withstand more than a couple of impacts or zombie attacks.
The zombies themselves are fiercely aggressive. Some exhibit unpredictable movement and hunting behaviors, forcing you to constantly adapt. You can engage them with precise shooting or resort to explosives when overwhelmed.
Base-building is a standout feature in Darkest Days. You can construct a fully operational shelter complete with facilities and a community of recruited survivors. These allies will assist in resource production and provide crucial support during combat.

Darkest Days offers both a compelling single-player campaign and multiplayer options. Team up with other players to face endless waves of zombies or take down massive mutant monstrosities for valuable loot. Designated PvP zones also allow you to battle other players for control of rare resources.
The global open beta marks the start of Season 1, titled "Fake Champion Luna." This season introduces Luna Bloody, a kendo master you can recruit for your shelter. By progressing through her personal story, you'll discover why a person of her exceptional skills is navigating the apocalypse.
The game is available for free on the Google Play Store.
